TEAM CONFLICT

Team Conflict There are five key reasons that team conflict occurs:
  1. The various parties have different information and haven't checked with each other
  2. The parties have different agendas, and once again, haven't discussed this and agreed on a way to go forward so both parties get their goals met
  3. The parties have different methods of dealing with conflict. Some people avoid conflict and so no-one quite knows what is wrong with that person; some play a great drama queen game, which other team members may find embarrassing and hard to deal with, and some people use manipulation or intimidatory tactics to get what they want.
  4. There is a personality clash within the team. This is probably the most common cause of conflict and yet the easiest one to fix.
  5. The parties have history or baggage between them. They may have started off on the wrong foot for a variety of reasons but have never taken the time to check with each other.
Conflict is painful for all parties. It can become entrenched; it can escalate. It costs dearly for all concerned - people, results and the organisation.

If you have any form of conflict in your team, department or organisation, call us now. Fixing conflict is what we do.
